This dataset accompanies the article Improving sea-level projections for the Northwestern European Shelf using dynamical downscaling by Hermans et al. (https://doi.org/10.1007/s00382-019-05104-5)

This dataset includes the data from the dynamical downscaled simulations that underlie part of the figures presented in the article. Included in this dataset are:

x Bathymetry: bathymetry files of AMM7 driven by HadGEM2-ES and MPI-ESM-LR
x Historical data: used for the evaluation of the models
	-mdt: mean dynamic topography anomalies w.r.t. regional mean, 1993-2012 [m]
	-mean_sst: climatological sea surface temperature in winter and summer, 1992-2010 [celcius]
	-mean_sss: climatological sea surface salinity in winter and summer, 1980-2017 [psu]
	-slv_interan: standard deviation of annual mean detrended ssh during 1980-2017, 2D fields and subsampled at TG locations [cm]
	-slv_seasonal: amplitude of the seasonal cycle of sea level during 1980-2017, 2D fields and subsampled at TG locations [cm]
x Projections: used for the future simulations
	-dzos: change of mean sea level between 1980-2005 and 2074-2099 for RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 [cm]
	-dsteric: change of mean steric sea level between 1980-2005 and 2074-2099 for RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 [cm]
	-dpbo: change of bottom pressure driven mean sea level between 1980-2005 and 2074-2099 for RCP8.5 [cm]
	-dthermosteric: change of mean thermosteric sea level between 1980-2005 and 2074-2099 for RCP8.5 [cm]
	-dhalosteric: change of mean halosteric sea level between 1980-2005 and 2074-2099 for RCP8.5 [cm]
	-toe: time of emergence relative to 1980-2005 for RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 [years]
	-seasonal_trends: linear trends of the amplitude of the seasonal cycle of sea level for 1980-2099 for RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 [mm/yr]
	-seasonal_variability: standard deviation of the detrended amplitude of the seasonal cycle of sea level for 1980-2099 for RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 [cm]

The data is stored in NetCDF4 format. This data has been generated by Dr. Jonathan Tinker (Met Office) and analyzed by Tim Hermans (NIOZ, TU Delft) using the regional shelf seas model NEMO AMM7 CO6, forced by two CMIP5 models: HadGEM2-ES and MPI-ESM-LR.
For the corresponding CMIP5 data the reader is referred to the ESGF database.
