Faradaic efficiencies were calculated based on the raw data taken from the gas chromatography instrument and mass flow meter as discussed in the supporting information. 
Potential and current values profiles were downloaded from the potentiostat. 
The in situ Raman spectroscopy setup monitored the scan number, wavenumber and intensity. The raw data was then processed to create heatmaps or intensity vs wavenumber graphs for different 'off' times.
