***General Introduction***
This dataset contains the collection of analysis data, codebook, and questionnaire questions that were used for the article "Adaptive guidance for uncertainty: how teachers use scaffolding in transdisciplinary courses".

***Purpose of Analysis***
The purpose of this study was to analyze what adaptive guidance, also called ‘scaffolding,’ was employed by teachers to guide students through problem-solving in uncertain situations in the Living Lab course (in 2023).

***Methods***
This study examines teachers' scaffolding strategies at 3 different moments in the Living Lab course (after 5, 10, and 14 weeks) to support students in problem-solving amidst uncertainty. In this design-based study, we monitored how 10 teachers developed scaffolding strategies based on a workshop they received before the course began. In 3 qualitative surveys and 3 focus groups, teachers reflected on their teaching practices and coaching strategies.

***Description of the data in this data set***

The file "Questionnaire questions" shows the questionnaire questions used to conduct the survey. The file "Codebook.xlsx" includes all the codes that were used. The file "Scaffdoling Analysis - Quotation Manager.xlsx" includes all the quotations that were coded. The file "Scaffolding Analysis - Data" includes the analysis based on these quotations.

The transcripts and notes of the 3 focus groups conducted for the purpose of this study are retained privately and only accessible by the research team as advised by the Human Research Ethics Committee of Delft University of Technology.
