We provide five datasets containing the data that was used for this manuscript:
* AllData_Avg_log
* AllData_WithReps_log
* Belowground_biomass
* Compaction
* Shear_strength

The parameters of each dataset are explained below.

*** AllData_Avg_log ***

This dataset contains data of compaction, penetration resistance, shear strength, bulk density, and aboveground and belowground biomass for all vegetation treatments, tidal regimes, sediment types, and measurement moments.
The data in this dataset are averages of 5 replicates, as measured in 5 different pots.

Veg: Vegetation treatment (unvegetated, vegetated with Spartina Anglica, or vegetated with Scirpus maritimus)
TR: Tidal regime (S5, S10, S20, or L20, see the corresponding manuscript for an explanation of the different tidal regimes)
Sed: Sediment type (Fine mud or sandy mud)
Com_log: Logarithm of measured compaction in cm, compaction is defined here as the distance between the top of the pots and sediment surface
PR_log: Logarithm of depth averaged penetration resistance in kPa
SS_0-5cm_log: Logarithm of shear strength between 0 and 5 cm depth in kPa
SS_10-15cm_log: Logarithm of shear strength between 10 and 15 cm depth in kPa
BD: Depth averaged bulk density in g/cm3
AGB_log: Logarithm of dry aboveground biomass in g
BGB_log: Logarithm of depth averaged dry belowground biomass in g
Time_months: Measurement moment (5, 10, or 17 months after the start of the experiment)

*** AllData_WithReps_log ***

This dataset contains data of compaction, penetration resistance, shear strength, bulk density, and aboveground and belowground biomass for all vegetation treatments, tidal regimes, sediment types, and measurement moments.
This data contains all data of all separate replicates.

Time_months: Measurement moment (5, 10, or 17 months after the start of the experiment)
Rep: Replicate number (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5)
Com_log: Logarithm of measured compaction in cm, compaction is defined here as the distance between the top of the pots and sediment surface

*** Belowground_biomass ***

This dataset contains data of belowground biomass for all vegetation treatments, tidal regimes, sediment types, and measurement moments.
This data contains all data of all separate replicates.

Time_months: Measurement moment (5, 10, or 17 months after the start of the experiment)
TR: Tidal regime (S5, S10, S20, or L20, see the corresponding manuscript for an explanation of the different tidal regimes)
Sed: Sediment type (Fine mud or sandy mud)
Veg: Vegetation treatment (unvegetated, vegetated with Spartina Anglica, or vegetated with Scirpus maritimus)
Pot_#: Number of the pot in which the measurement was done (between 1 & 120)
From_depth_cm: Depth of the top of the slice of which belowground biomass was extracted in cm
To_depth_cm: Depth of the bottom of the slice of which belowground biomass was extracted in cm
Dry_BGB_g: Dry belowground biomass in g
