This repository contains the processed data/figures belonging to the publication "A new coupling of a GPU-resident large-eddy simulation code with a multiphysics wind turbine simulation tool" by E. Taschner, M. Folkersma, L.A. Martínez-Tossas, R. Verzijlbergh and J.W. van Wingerden (2023). In this work, a new simulation environment is developed, which can be used to simulate wind turbines in the atmospheric boundary layer. The two main components are the large-eddy simulation code GRASP/ASPIRE and the turbine simulation tool OpenFAST. GRASP simulates the flow physics, whereas OpenFAST simulates the turbine dynamics (aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control system). The two codes are coupled via an actuator line model (ALM), which captures the footprint of individual turbine blades. The ALM implementation includes the filtered lifting line correction (FLLC). The ALM implementation is verified by simulating a laminar inflow case using the NREL 5 MW reference turbine, for which reference data from four other research LES-ALM codes are available. Furthermore, the performance of the FLLC is assessed, and its convergence behaviour and impact on runtime are studied.
