Dataset
Appendices B...E supply the analytical dataset used to compare alternative structural design methods for racking walls in light timber frame (LTF) multistory buildings. The study’s objective is to quantify how different load evaluation rules, system and element design assumptions influence calculated utilisation rate, deflection and tension anchoring demand in multistorey timber buildings. The research is documentary-analytical: formulae and variable definitions were extracted from international (Eurocodes 5) and national Finnish guidances, as well as calculation sheets of a case project retrieved from municipal archives, then summarized in a tabular format. Introductory Appendix B (.pdf) lists the governing equations and symbols, informing context of Excel files (C...E) and the main text. Appendix C (.xlsx) illustrates numerical load distribution scenarios for five different design methods. Geometrical and product property data is extracted from case project documentation as retrieved from municipal archives. Missing product data is complemented with educated guess based on product manufacturer documentation, as informed in the main publication. Appendix D (.xlsx) provides background for fastener positional factors, illustrating sources of deviation between different versions of design guidance. Appendix E (.xlsx) informs comparative summary of earlier design methods related to shear design capacity and deflection of the LTF shear wall (3 different walls), comparing them to the results of incoming Eurocode 5 (Appendix H) design method allowing for partial tension anchoring calculation. Together these tables form a semi-structured dataset of input parameters and computed results that underpin the comparative analysis reported in the main publication. Detailed context and references are available from the main publication.
