Dataset

The dataset for the analyses in the paper Ecosystems cast a shadow: How high-quality entrepreneurial ecosystems hamper productive entrepreneurship in neighboring regions. This dataset includes the variables used to answer the research question: What is the influence of neighboring regional entrepreneurial ecosystems on the occurrence of productive entrepreneurship in a focal regional entrepreneurial ecosystem? The dataset is used for regression analyses to answer this question. The variables for the dataset come from a variety of sources as explained in the paper. The variables are all named the same way as indicated in the regression tables of the paper. In particular it contains: The NUTS_ID of each region, "Innovative start-up prevalence", "EE-quality (summed elements", "EE quality (multiplied elements)", "Maximum EE-quality neighbors (summed elements)", "Maximum EE-quality neighbors (multiplied elements)", "Summed EE-quality neighbors (summed elements)", "Summed EE-quality neighbors (multiplied elements)", "Average EE-quality neighbors (summed elements)", "Average EE-quality neighbors (multiplied elements)", "Population", "Gross regional product", "National capital", "EEG neighbor"
