This document is the dataset of a systematic review on how different roof factors can have a certain effect on arthropod diversity. Using the PICO/PECO framework, a Scopus search using several keyword combinations was performed. Three keyword combinations were used. A very broad search of “biodiversity AND (green roof* OR greenroof* OR vegetated roof*)” resulting in 431 papers, a specific one "(insect* OR arthropod*) AND (green roof* OR greenroof* OR vegetated roof*)" resulting in 93 papers. We used several more specific ones, like “(insect* OR arthropod* OR pollinator* OR collembolan* OR flies) AND (biodiversity OR development) AND (green roof* OR greenroof* OR vegetated roof* OR sedum roof*)”. This search revealed an additional 21 papers that had not been found by Google Scholar, adding up to a total of 61 papers. Reviews were not used for this particular part as they would not reveal new information, resulting in 52 papers further used in this study. Our search extended from insects to all arthropods, which is what we will further refer to throughout this review. From each paper the following information was extracted:

(a) The impact of green roof factors (green roof type, substrate composition/depth, plant diversity, size, age, moisture level, height, percentage of surrounding green)

(b) Insects and other arthropod groups found on green roof biodiversity research

(c) Trapping/catching methods

(d) The ranges for each factor (which heights/sizes/ages were studied)

(e) What were the number of roofs that were studied

This was summarized in this document to give an overview on how many papers found a certain effect.
